Newcastle Helix Tour

Friday 12 July, 15.00 - 16.00pm

The 24-acre Helix campus can be found on the former site of the Newcastle and Scottish Breweries, next to St. James’ Park. Bringing together academia, communities, business, industry and the public sector, this unique site is a testbed for innovative technologies and solutions tackling some of the most pressing challenges facing cities around the world, such as flooding, resilient infrastructure and energy.

Newcastle Helix is also home to our Business School and School of Computing, as well as the newest student halls.

Main campus tour

Friday 12 July, 16.30 - 17.30pm

When you think back to your time at Newcastle, there’s probably one iconic landmark that comes to mind: the Arches! Walk through our Arches and take a step back in time in this one-hour tour of our main campus.

You’ll learn the history of some of our most impressive buildings, including:

  • Armstrong Building: The heart of our university, and the oldest building on campus (opening in 1871!)
  • King George VI Building: Which was opened by King George VI in 1939 and home to our Medical School for nearly 50 years.
  • Stephenson Building: The new home of world-class engineering education on campus and the newest building on our main campus, opening to students in September 2023!

Plus, take in the beautiful garden and landscapes of our various courtyards and quadrangles.

Please note: Spaces are limited on our campus walking tours, so be sure to secure your place today!
