Offer holder experience days

Help us recruit the next generation of students!

What are Offer Holder Experience Days? 

Once students have applied to Newcastle University they are given another chance to visit us at an Offer Holder Experience day, where they visit the academic school to which they have applied. These events give future students the chance to:

  • see the teaching facilities
  • meet members of staff
  • talk to current students who may be studying on the course
  • have a look around the campus and city
  • visit University accommodation 

What volunteering activity can I undertake?  

Volunteering to support Offer Holder Experience days can be undertaken in 2 ways:

  1. Generalised offer holder support: alumni will participate in the open sessions for any and all prospective students to attend, as opposed to faculty-specific.
  2. Faculty/school-specific offer holder support: Faculties and schools offer specific talks around certain courses and would welcome alumni speaking about their career paths and experiences after studying that course. These talks could either be to prospective students, parents or a mixture of both.

Current in-person opportunities

We are currently seeking alumni who studied undergraduate degrees at Newcastle University in the following subjects who would be able to volunteer in-person at the offer holder experience days.

Faculty of Medical Sciences offer holder experience days:

  • 15 March 2025 - Subjects: Biomedical Sciences | Nutrition
  • 29 March 2025 - Subjects: Biomedical Sciences | Medicine | Pharmacy | Sports and Exercise Science
  • 10 May 2025 - Subjects: Biomedical Sciences | Dentistry | Dietetics | Medicine | Pharmacy | Sports and Exercise Science 

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offer holder experience days (sessions to take place between 1pm and 4pm):

  • 29 March 2025 – Subjects: Sociology | Politics and Sociology | Geography | Politics | International Relations | Politics and International Relations | Politics and Economics
  • 10 May 2025 – Subjects: International Relations | Politics and International Relations | Politics and Economics | Education 

Current virtual opportunities

We are also seeking alumni who would be willing to pre-record a video to be played at our School of Modern Languages offer holder experience days. We are primarily looking for alumni who studied the following undergraduate degree programmes but welcome volunteers who studied other undergraduate language degrees:

  • Chinese Studies
  • Japanese Studies
  • Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies
