Come and discover the digital tools, technology and organising techniques available for your & your community to come together right now to plan & improve your environment.

How many houses need retrofitting? Where do our carbon emissions come from? What sites are suitable for renewable energy? What innovative funding is available to make this happen (and what legal forms does it take)? Where/how do I start, to make this happen?  Learn how to deliver mapping your community, stakeholders and about community engagement in a fast paced interactive way; to develop and then enact your Community Climate Action plan.

At this talk, you’ll hear stories of where and how this is growing around the country, via networks of citizens & learn how you can join in and make a difference. What you do right now matters. You can’t have a million without one.

Bio

Joolz has spent 25 years in the private sector, as Managing Director and Director at a PLC (in the land and “prop tech” sector), before working in the 3rd sector for a Think Tank; Shared Assets (who’s focus is common good land use with shared benefits), creating a mapping application (Land Explorer) to support community led development. A founder of the Community Benefit Society iFarm (10 acres of land in Norfolk), that has also taken on the local pub (The White Horse) as a hub for activity, he has helped to bring a community together to deliver Community Climate Action planning (an initiative funded by the National Lottery and incubated by the Climate Majority Project). This incorporates a series of participatory workshops and deliberative democracy to create and then enact a community plan - action on Housing, Energy, Transport, Food and Biodiversity increase. Community Climate Action planning has led to the formation of a Suffolk Green Cluster of Parishes, working together, who are now also founding members of the Suffolk Community Energy Steering Group in collaboration with Community Energy South and Suffolk County Council’s Climate Change Partnership.

Joolz is a Parish Councillor in Hopton cum Knettishall and works for Suffolk Farming and Wildlife Group, as a Business Development Consultant – helping farmers transition to more sustainable agriculture and connecting communities with those who grow their food. Joolz is Non-executive Director of The Great Collaboration (a toolkit designed to support Council & Community Climate Action).
