Trial and Error

a Small Talk x Farrell Centre collaboration

Join us at Newcastle University APL’s London Degree Show for a special pre-opening event. Chaired by Adam Schell and Louis Gardener - Hanna BenihoudJames Dowen and Tom Benton will discuss the idea of 'Trial and Error'. This Small Talk will focus on discussion around the design process, making mistakes and how we can learn from and celebrate those mistakes before opening up to questions from the audience.

Hanna Benihoud established Hanna Benihoud Studio as an interdisciplinary design studio working between the worlds of art, architecture and design. She is passionate about working on exciting projects with a social conscience. She works on public art, wayfinding, illustration, animation, exhibition design and anything else she feels can tell a story and make a difference.

James Dowen and Tom Farmer founded Dowen Farmer Architects in 2017. They are a team of problem solvers stacked with commercial grit and creative edge – committed to a working process that means they always deliver more and don’t ever settle for anything less. Sometimes less is more, sometimes it isn’t. Knowing the difference is what makes them different.

Tom Benton and Carlos Sanchez established Sanchez Benton Architects in 2017. They work on projects that have a social, poetic and architectural ambition. Their approach is both pragmatic and philosophical. They work collaboratively and enjoy a process that values ongoing conversations with clients, colleagues, consultants, and all end users of the architecture.

Small Talk is the lecture series run by the Newcastle University Architecture Society and has hosted talks from renowned architects such as Amin Taha, Sarah Wigglesworth, Rawden Pettitt and Rod Heyes. Follow the society on Instagram @nuarchisoc to find more information.

This event is free to attend but booking is required to reserve your place.
