The first ACHS awards were celebrated at the Galway 2024 conference

29 October 2024

The bi-annual Association of Critical Heritage Studies conference took place in Galway this year, where the first ACHS awards were celebrated, recognising outstanding contributions of members across various categories.

Dr Loes Veldpaus received the ACHS 2024 Outstanding Service Award and PhD student Minki Sung received the ACHS 2024 Best Graduate Paper Presentation Award.

Minki Sung said, "As a PhD student in Heritage Studies at Newcastle University, I was honoured to receive the ACHS 2024 Best Graduate Paper Presentation Award. This recognition reflects both my passion for heritage studies and the dedicated support of my supervisors, Dr Loes Veldpaus (who received the ACHS 2024 Outstanding Service Award), Dr Emma Ormerod and Professor John Pendlebury. Without their guidance, this research presentation would not have been possible. Motivated by this recognition from one of the most respected communities of heritage scholars, I look forward to exploring new opportunities for growth and learning in my field."
