Professor Simin Davoudi makes keynote speech at the 58th World Planning Congress
Simin Davoudi makes a speech at the International Society of City and Regional Planning and is elected as a trustee of the Town and Country Planning Association.

Professor Simin Davoudi was invited to present a keynote speech for the International Society of City and Regional Planning (ISOCARP) and their 58th World Planning Congress which was held from the 3- 6 October in Brussels.
Simin’s keynote speech discussed the re-imagining of planning as a prefigurative practice of mobilizing hope for alternative ‘realities’ as well as sharing ideas on what it would take for this re-imagining to become embedded in everyday planning practices and institutions.
Following the speech Professor Davoudi was invited to join a roundtable debate on planning education and a session on women and planning.
In further good news, Simin was elected as a Trustee of the Town and Country Planning Association over the summer. The registered charity work towards improving the art of town and country planning by: securing decent homes for everyone in a good human-scale environment combining the best features of town and country; empowering people and communities to influence decisions that affect them; and improving the planning system in accordance with the principles of sustainable development.
