Anna-Louise Smith
Nutricia.
Community Account Manager
My career in Nutrition and Dietetics has been a varied and exciting one. It began in the NHS, where immediately after graduating I took on my first hospital-based role. After a few years, I specialised as a community Dietitian focusing on public health and nutrition in primary care and in this role developed skills in leadership, management, training and service development. After over 25 years in the NHS, I was keen to explore opportunities that existed for Dietitians in industry and for the last three years have been developing a whole new set of skills working for Nutricia, as a Community Account Manager. My current role enables me to support NHS dietitians in managing malnutrition in their patients, whilst developing my skills in business management. It has been an exciting move, with very different challenges to face, decisions to make and the pace of work is fast! It is a stimulating and constantly changing work environment with global opportunities for career development.
Born and bred in the North East of England, I perhaps have a biased view on life here. But the beauty of our Northumberland coastline and buzz of our city life provide a diverse mix of experiences to enjoy. The North East offers a great student experience and many opportunities for graduating dietitians looking to work in NHS or the food industry.
