Previous research interests have focused on the intracellular role of nutrients; in particular the regulation of the movement of ions (potassium, sodium and calcium) across cell membranes in the gastrointestinal and cardiovascular systems, their regulation by hormones, and their role in signal transduction cascades. Other interests include the mechanism of oxygen sensing by the carotid body. This research has led to 17 published articles on Scopus.
Recent research has focused on the employability of graduates in the Food and Drink industry. I am also interested in consumer awareness of allergens.
