Creating great content isn’t over when you hit the publish button. Once content is published, it needs nurturing to ensure that it remains accurate and relevant. We don't want to confuse or frustrate our audiences.
Out of date content can create a frustrating or confusing experience for our audiences. It also:
- negatively impacts our search engine rankings (for website content)
- leaves us vulnerable to legal or regulatory penalties
- negatively affects our impact on the environment
It’s important to plan for how you will maintain and remove your content over time.

It’s important that our content is accurate, up to date, and retired when it’s no longer needed. This means that we need to know who 'owns' it.
