Journey to the Leading Edge Curriculum

The conference is all about learning together, sharing effective practice, and exploring our Journey to the Leading Edge Curriculum.

We’ve made a commitment to develop and embed a new curriculum framework that speaks to our values, is inclusive by design, supports our disciplines with pedagogic innovation, reflects the expectations of our employers, and simplifies and harmonises structures across the University.

This year's conference is a chance for colleagues and students across the University to bring to the forefront innovative thinking, practice and projects that are aligned to the principles of our emerging Leading Edge Curriculum. Colleagues and students involved in developing the Leading Edge Curriculum Framework will be sharing progress with our education community.

Registration for the conference in now open. Colleagues and students are all invited to sign up to attend this year's conference. Please follow the relevant links before to register your interest.

Keynote address

The UK faces a skills crisis—by 2030, 20% of the workforce may be under-skilled, with 66% of large businesses struggling to find talent. In the video games industry, 68% of companies report skill gaps, particularly in communication and management.

How can industry and education collaborate to bridge this gap? In this keynote, Lisa Opie will explore the causes, impact, and opportunities for partnership to build a future-ready workforce.

Keynote speaker: Lisa Opie

Managing Director, Ubisoft Reflections

Lisa Opie leads Ubisoft Reflections, a AAA studio co-developing major Ubisoft titles. Previously, she was Managing Director of Production at BBC Studios, overseeing hit titles like Planet Earth 2 and Doctor Who.

With cross-industry experience and a passion for innovation and inclusivity, Lisa is also a Visiting Professor of Innovation and Enterprise at Newcastle University Business School.
