Dr Amy Linh Thuy Nguyen is a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in International Management at the Newcastle University Business School. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Amy holds a PhD in Management (specialised in International Business) and a MSc in Global Marketing (Distinction) from the University of York, and a MA in Economics & Finance (Honours) from the University of Edinburgh. Amy experienced with some consulting projects and mentoring startups. Having had some industry experiences in both Vietnam and the UK (Australia & New Zealand Banking Group, United Nations Development Programme, Asia Scotland Institute, Total System Services), Amy is keen on bringing these industry experiences into her academic career. Amy welcomes PhD applicants who wish to receive PhD supervision in the fields of International Business, Business History, and International Management.
Amy's main research interests are in the areas of foreign direct investment, international trades, intellectual property rights (especially on the use of trademarks data), innovation, risk management strategies, knowledge transfer, and organisational learning. Amy has presented her research at a number of International Business and Business History conferences, where she was a recipient of the Top 3 Best Paper Award from Reading United Nations Conference on Trade & Development (UNCTAD) International Business Conference (Reading, UK/2019), and a finalist for the Best Doctoral Thesis Proposal at European International Business Academy (EIBA) Annual Conference (Leeds, UK/2019).
At Newcastle, she taught the following modules: The International Business Environment (NBS8045); Research Methods for International Business Management (NBS8327); Research Methods (NBS8289); Applied Business Research (NBS8659). Amy also supervised the International Business Management dissertations (BUS3052). Throughout her Doctorate study, Amy acted as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Guest Lecturer at both University of Leeds and University of York where she taught the following modules: Knowledge Information Systems (UG); Marketing Principles and Practice (UG); Quantitative Methods and Data Analysis (PG); Internationalisation in the Fashion Industry Context (PG); International Business Strategy (PG).
