Staff Profile
I joined the Economics group in Newcastle University Business School on October 2023 as a research associate funded by the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre (Creative PEC). Before pursuing this personal interest in the creative industries, I obtained my PhD in Energy, Environmental, and Food Economics from Penn State University under graduate research assistantship.
I was an advisor on food policy and trade to the deputy chief of staff (for economic issues) at the Executive Office of the President of Indonesia for three years after obtaining my MSc in Development Economics and Policy from The University of Manchester under the LPDP (Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education) Scholarship from Indonesia.
Prior to graduate studies, I spent four years with Standard Chartered Group in Singapore under various consumer banking roles, most prominently in performance management and scorecard design. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics from Nanyang Technological University under Singapore's ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship after also completing secondary education under Singapore MOE Pre-University scholarship and Singapore International Foundation (SIF) scholarship.
As part of the Internationalisation team of Creative PEC, my current research focuses on policies regarding trade and internationalisation of UK’s creative industries, as well as understanding the success of South Korea's Kpop in global trade of live performances.
During my doctoral studies, I studied consumer food purchase patterns around disasters (such as the pandemic and hurricanes) in the U.S. context using detailed retailer-level and consumer-level food purchase data in a research project at Penn State University on Food Resilience in the Face of Catastrophic Global Events funded by Open Philanthropy.
