Kim Weston
Head of Professional Services (Education)
Kim Weston is the Head of Professional Services (Education) at Newcastle University Business School and has a particular focus on Learning and Teaching as well as the Student Experience, Student Recruitment and Marketing. She has overall responsibility with the Dean and the School Safety Officer for Health and Safety across the School's two sites. Kim is responsible for the development of strategy and professional service functions across the School. Working with the Senior Executive Board and key academic leads to deliver on the School's Strategy 2028 Building Bridges alongside the forward planning of the School. She is keen to respond to challenges and opportunities and to create a collaborative environment whilst promoting a culture of trust and respect across the School.
Prior to joining Newcastle University in October 2019, Kim played a lead role in Transforming the Student Experience at Northumbria University and took lead in creating the Student Central facility. She has over 35 years experience in Higher Education. Kim held several leadership roles in the Faculty of Business and Law and the Business School including Quality Manager, Executive Officer, Principal Administrator for PG programmes and Executive Education. She supported the University's academic regulatory framework and played a lead role in managing and achieving the Faculty's accreditations including AACSB, EPAS. She has advised on QAA operating principles as well as driving forward new initiatives in particular Degree Apprenticeships, management of the London Campus and other international partnerships.
Kim spent 4 years working with Northumbria Police during which time she was responsible for managing a high profile 'change project' which saw the introduction of new professional management support roles set up to work with police officers in managing offenders in the community. This was a successful initiative which was rolled out across the area command.
