Before joining the Newcastle community to pursue his PhD, Ryan earned:
- an MBA from the University of Central Lancashire, UK
- an MA in Education from University College London (UCL), UK
- a BSc (Hons) in International Supply Chain and Shipping from the University of Plymouth, UK.
His professional experience spans entrepreneurship as the founder of Learniverse GLOBAL, a research consulting start-up business, and prior roles as an English conversation instructor at a private English educational institution.
He is also a singer-songwriter as a side job, performing under the stage name Lion TW. Since debuting in August 2024, he has consistently released several digital singles, showcasing his multifaceted talents alongside his academic pursuits.
Project title: From Political Shocks to Sustainability and High-Tech Supply Chain: Mapping Global Disruption in Supply Chain Life Cycle from Macro- to Micro level
Project description: Ryan's doctoral research investigates the impact of geopolitical shocks, ESG transparency, and Human-Centric AI on customer engagement. It looks across the supply chain within the era of Industry 5.0, encompassing first-mile High-Tech logistics, middle-mile maritime shipping, and last-mile delivery services. It adopts a mixed-methods approach—combining fsQCA, Interviews, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), and Machine Learning.
The research intends to give practical insights not merely to the academia but also to relevant business industry and governmental departments, such as:
- Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries
- Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
- Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy
- Ministry of Employment and Labor in South Korea
Research interests: His research interests are varied and multi-disciplinary, linking Politics, Information Technology, Marketing, and even Finance to Global Logistics. Alongside his major PhD research, he is also interested in studying Management Science & Operational Research, particularly such as optimisation, mathematical modelling with computational skills in Data Science.
