Dr. Yan Jiang (BA, MSc, PhD, FHEA) is a Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Newcastle University Business School, Newcastle University. She completed her Ph.D. and MSc at the University of Rome ‘‘Tor Vergata’’ in Italy. Before joining Newcastle University, Dr. Yan Jiang gained valuable experience and expertise through her work at Middlesex University in the UK, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. in Italy, and as a consultant at the United Nations IFAD institute. Her diverse professional background has provided her with a unique perspective on the field of supply chain management.
Passionate about her research, Dr. Yan Jiang focuses her efforts on sustainable supply chain management. She delves into the intricate ways in which companies navigate sustainability and corporate social responsibility issues at various levels within the supply chain. Furthermore, she is deeply intrigued by digitalised supply chains and explores how the adoption of digital technologies can foster innovation in supply chains and business ecosystems. Her work has been published in top-ranking international journals and presented at prestigious conferences. She also serves as a regular reviewer for various academic journals in the field of operations and supply chain management.

Yan’s main research interests revolve around sustainable supply chain management and digitalised supply chains. Her work in sustainable supply chain management aims to enhance our understanding of how to promote environmental and social sustainability throughout supply chains. Yan's research places strong emphasis on corporate social responsibility, green innovation, and circular economy. Additionally, she looks at the adoption of digital technologies in driving transformation and innovation of supply chains toward sustainable development.
Her research findings have been published in leading international journals, including International Journal of Operations & Production Management (IJOPM), British Journal of Management (BJM), International Journal of Production Research (IJPR), Industrial Marketing Management (IMM), Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management (JPSM), Journal of Business Research (JBR), and Supply Chain Management: An International Journal (SCMIJ).

With her commitment to teaching excellence, Yan has also developed two influential teaching cases that have been published and applied in postgraduate modules.
