Course: Digital Marketing MSc
What did you study before you joined Newcastle University Business School?
I studied Arts Management at The Ohio State University for my undergraduate degree. During the course I learned how non-profit organisations work in terms of things such as finance, marketing, communications.
What made you choose Newcastle as your study destination?
I felt that the Digital Marketing MSc was the best fit for me and my skill set. I felt like the course content and the hands-on learning activities would be perfect to push me to improve my digital marketing skills and move my career forward. I also felt such a warm welcome from Newcastle University. I felt like the University wanted me here as much as I wanted to be here.
You were awarded a scholarship by Newcastle University. What does it mean to you to receive this Scholarship?
It means so much to receive the scholarship. To me, this scholarship is a sign that the University believes that I will greatly benefit from the course as well as bring my own experience and creativity to the table. This scholarship will remind me each day that I belong at Newcastle and I belong on the programme. It will motivate me even more to succeed.
How do you think receiving the scholarship will benefit your future?
The scholarship will benefit my future because it has allowed me to be a part of a course where I will learn so many useful skills that I can apply to my career. Already I have learned so many things about digital marketing that will make me a well-rounded and intelligent candidate for employment.
Why have you chosen to study at Master’s level, and what got you interested in your Master’s subject area?
I chose to study a Master’s because I love learning and I felt that a Master’s course would allow me to learn more while also helping me with my career. I am interested in digital marketing because I have a few years of experience in similar fields which I’ve enjoyed. I can’t wait to learn more about it and continue developing my skills.
Now you’ve started your Master’s, how are you finding the experience so far?
The experience is excellent so far. I feel that my voice and my ideas are valued and that I’m already gaining so much hands-on experience even just a month into the course.
I have been learning about the principles of each module and working on generating ideas for my essays and assessments.
So far, my favourite thing has been brainstorming for my group project on how to increase engagement and loyalty of 16–24-year-olds at Greggs.
What are you most looking forward to on your course?
I am most looking forward to improving my skills in research and writing. While there are many practical marketing principles that I’m excited to learn, research has always seemed like a daunting task to me and I can tell that this course will help me gain a lot of confidence within that field.
What are your current career plans? How will your Master’s help you achieve them?
I plan to continue moving forward in the fields of digital marketing, communication, or design. I hope to bring my sense of creativity to any job that I have in the future. My goal is to become a digital marketing manager for a small business or a non-profit organisation.
Would you like to share anything else?
I am so thankful for this opportunity and can’t wait to continue on my journey at Newcastle University.
