All placements need to meet our requirements to ensure it's a suitable and rewarding experience that we can recognise as part of your degree.

What you need to know
Securing your placement
You need to secure the placement yourself but our Placement and Study Abroad team are here to help. They offer bookable one-to-ones, information and skills sessions, drop-ins and pre-departure support.
They'll work with you from stage one to identify opportunities and help you develop your CV and cover letter. They work closely with our Careers and Employability teams to signpost to additional support.
Reduced tuition fees
During your placement year, you'll pay reduced tuition fees to Newcastle University. While on placement, you're responsible for paying for:
- accommodation
- travel
- living costs
- securing the relevant visa if working overseas
Reflective module
During your work placement year, you'll complete a module to help you reflect on your experience. We'll recognise the experience in your degree title eg BSc Hons Accounting and Finance with Work Placement.
