Support student modules

Could your organisation benefit from hosting a motivated and enthusiastic student?

Maybe you already work with one of our students. Do you want to develop their employability skills?

If so, our Career Development Module (CDM) can help.

In the 2024/25 academic year, we expect students to complete at least 50 hours on their CDM placement. The hours must be completed between October and May.

Someone at the host organisation must act as a placement supervisor. The supervisor will:

  • oversee 50 hours of activity
  • provide feedback about the student's performance
  • complete a health and safety checklist

The supervisor cannot be another student.

Hosting a Career Development Module placement can:

  • help you gain a fresh perspective
  • give you a chance to share your good practice
  • increase your opportunities for staff development

Student employees or volunteers

Students will contribute proactively to meet and enhance the aims of your organisation.

You can advertise an opportunity for a student through our website

Student tutors

Student tutors work alongside teachers in the classroom. They can support learners with their studies and help to raise their aspirations. The University will arrange a DBS check for all student tutors.

In 2023, organisations gave an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars when asked if hosting a student benefited them.
