Project summary

The public sector is the largest single buyer of gas and electricity in the UK. Public organisations (e.g. hospitals, universities) often own and operate an on-site multi-energy system. There is a disconnect between the potential benefits of the theoretical most effective operation of these systems and realising these benefits. This project will address this gap by investigating a decision tool to improve operation of multi-energy systems and so reduce energy use, carbon emissions and costs. Novel approaches to improve real-time operation of multi energy systems will be demonstrated through a test system.
