Background
This research documents and explores the impact of COVID-19 on the learning and well-being of children and young people. It asks:
- What were the home schooling arrangements of different schools in COVID-19 and what kind of engagement were children and young people and their families able to have with these arrangements? Can a model for schooling in a time of crisis be developed?
- What are families doing in response to COVID-19 in terms of managing relationships, spending time, and managing learning? What have families learnt about themselves?
- How have community organisations (schools, VCSE, councils, universities, colleges) responded to the learning and resource needs and food needs of poor families?
- What does this empirical research tell us about how teaching and learning is conceptualised and operationalised between school and home?
- What does this empirical research tell us about the resilience or otherwise of both families and of civic institutions (schools and charities) in a time of crisis?
