I am the School Research Manager for both the School of Computing and the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, in the Science, Agriculture and Engineering (SAgE) Faculty. I lead on all aspects of research support for my Schools, working closely with Directors for Research, the Head of Faculty Research, the Deputy Head of Faculty Research and colleagues across the University's Professional Services teams to foster a positive research environment. I manage the Pre-Award Costings team for my Schools, providing dedicated support for researchers throughout the process (please complete a Project Initiation Form to access our services).
Prior to starting this role in April 2024, I was the Academic Liaison Librarian for the Schools of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, and Natural and Environmental Sciences, leading on the development, delivery and review of services and resources which support our research, education and engagement activities.
I have worked at Newcastle University since 2007 and in Higher Education since 2002. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and was part of the team awarded the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) in 2023. Qualified as a manager, information specialist, teacher and trainer, I have particular expertise and interests in research culture, the responsible use of research metrics, information and data literacies, systematic reviews, copyright and open research practices.
