Following the completion of my PhD in Plant Biology at Newcastle University in 2017, I joined the University as Research and Impact Facilitator in 2018 after a short time as a Trials Officer for a North-East based pesticide company. As RIF I led on the return to three Units of Assessment in the Research Excellence Framework 2021, achieving first and second in the country on the basis of Impact GPA score for two of these UoAs. I then moved to the School of Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics as School Research Manager, and now I am Deputy Head of School Operations for both the Schools of Computing, and Mathematics Statistics and Physics.
My role is to be the Professional Services lead for these two schools on several areas of the School manager portfolio. This includes Business Innovation and Skills; recruitment, induction, and onboarding; PS lead for Athena Swan applications; and internal and external communications. I also line manage the operations teams.
