CoReD in Portugal

The tool developed by the Portuguese team of the CoReD project is called S3S Survey on Students School Spaces and aims to promote an inclusive and critical reflection on possible changes in school spaces, also supported by the feedback from students who attend it.

The team is interdisciplinary, crossing the areas of geography and educational sciences, with a primary focus on architecture. One of the first stages of work consists of analysing the Portuguese school space, which will be presented as case studies.

Subsequently, it is intended to study the dynamics of the students in space, the schools’ effective use and occupation for the purposes of teaching and learning. The application of the tool will also involve the gathering of small focus groups for further detail on their space use.

Finally, we seek a propositional conclusion about the space of these schools, in order to provide them with critical knowledge about the space and about their possibilities of improvement at different scales.

At the same time, each team is responsible for systematising its tool in guidelines that allow its transposition to other countries and partner teams of this project. This crossing of social, pedagogical and geographical contexts will potentially allow a more informed result on the implementation of each proposal.
