In the Middle: Movement Patterns of an Educator
The pedagogical approach adopted by the staff at this Kindergarten in South Tyrol,Italy, encourages the children to use the spaces according to their individual needs and interests- with the task of the educational staff to accompany the children in their activities and to offer them activities in the rooms. The Cartographic Observation tool was used to explore whether there are optimum positions for the teachers to place themselves in order to support the children and respond to their needs most effectively.

Der pädagogische Ansatz, den das Personal dieses Kindergartens in Südtirol, Italien, verfolgt, ermutigt die Kinder, die Räume nach ihren individuellen Bedürfnissen und Interessen zu nutzen – entsprechend haben die Pädagoginnen die Aufgabe, die Kinder bei ihren Aktivitäten zu begleiten und ihnen Angebote in den jeweiligen Räumen zu machen. Die Kartografischen Beobachtung wurde eingesetzt, um zu untersuchen, ob es optimale Positionen im Raum gibt, an denen sich die Pädagoginnen aufhalten können, um die Kinder zu unterstützen und auf ihre Bedürfnisse am effektivsten einzugehen.

La strategia pedagogica adottata dal personale di questa scuola dell'infanzia altoatesina incoraggia i bambini a utilizzare gli spazi secondo i loro bisogni e interessi. Il compito degli educatori nelle stanze è di accompagnare i bambini e di proporre loro attività. Lo strumento di osservazione cartografica è stato utilizzato per vedere quali fossero le posizioni migliori da cui gli insegnanti potessero sostenere i bambini nello loro attività e, al contempo, rispondere ai loro bisogni nel modo più efficace.
