Pedagogical Walk-Through (PW)
Evaluating different environments in schools and preschools and improving them
What is a pedagogical walk-through?
A pedagogical walk-through is used to evaluate different environments in schools and preschools as a way of improving them. First, a group of teachers walk through the areas and make notes about how they accommodate the kind of activities taking place in them. This is then followed by a discussion about the internal and external environments and how they might be changed and improved.
Walk-throughs have been used in different contexts with multi-professional teams and with children of different ages. A pedagogical walk-through is primarily a tool for teachers in different types of school to become more aware of the role of the physical environment for teaching and learning and how it can best be developed.

Vad är en pedagogisk gåtur?
En pedagogisk gåtur används för att utvärdera olika miljöer i skolor och förskolor som ett led i att utveckla dem. Den går ut på att en grupp lärare först gör en rundvandring i miljöerna och för anteckningar om hur de fungerar för den pedagogiska verksamheten som bedrivs där. Sedan förs, i direkt anslutning till gåturen, en diskussion om olika platser, såväl inomhus som utomhus, vilket väcker gemensam reflektion över möjliga förändringar och förbättringar av miljöerna. Gåturer har använts inom en rad områden, med grupper av olika professioner och med barn i olika åldrar. Pedagogiska gåturer är främst ett verktyg för lärare i olika skolformer för att bli mer medvetna om den fysiska miljöns roll för undervisning och lärande, och för att skaffa sig underlag för att utveckla den.
