Agriculture Building
My research interests include exploring the use of mixed and evidence-based methods in exploring public perceptions towards animal welfare and meat consumption, specifically qualitative and quantitative systematic reviews, and mixed qualitative research methods. I am particularly interested in exploring peoples relationships with animal products and their production practices, such as motivations for food choice, innovation and technology in production, knowledge of food production practices, and food cultures.
My research involves working with a range of stakeholders from across the food supply chain, including policy makers, primary producers, manufacturers and the public, not to mention academics from a variety of different disciplines including geography, history, economics, epidemiology, nutrition and animal science.
Areas of Expertise
Public perceptions, farm animal welfare, meat consumption, dairy, consumer behaviour, mixed-methods research
Google ScholarI am currently working on the Wellcome Trust funded project 'Thinking forward through the past: linking science, social science and the humanities to inform the sustainable reduction of endemic disease in British livestock farming' www.field-wt.co.uk
I currently supervise a number of students on the following degrees:
- Food Marketing and Nutrition (BSc)
- Joint Honurs (BSc)
- International Marketing (MSc)
