'Meet the Editor’ – with Prof Bettina B. Bock, Sociologia Ruralis Editor-in-Chief
Drawing on her experience as editor of the international journal Sociologia Ruralis, Prof Bettina Bock will discuss what you need to know in order to ensure success when submitting a paper.
The session is aimed particularly at PhD students and university staff in the fields of sociology, planning, geography and environmental/development studies.
Friday, 19 May
Agriculture Building 3.05, Centre for Rural Economy
16.00 – 17.30
The session will involve a discussion on issues such as:
- What is Impact Factor? Is it important? How to choose a journal for publishing?
- Does ‘major revision’ mean that the paper will be published?
- What do I do if I disagree with the editor’s decision? What makes a good response letter to the editor? Do I have to change everything suggested by the reviewers?
- What is an editorial board? Should PhD students try to get into editorial boards?
