The research expertise in the University offers a number of opportunities for partnerships and consultancy. These include joint applications for funding, access to facilities and consultancy.

We're ideally located in the North East of England, where a large proportion of the UK’s process industries are based.

The North East has:

58% of the petrochemical industry
35% of the pharmaceuticals industry
a major proportion of the UK’s fine and speciality chemical industry

This sector is the UK’s highest exporter (£31.8bn/pa), with the North East exporting £4.5bn.

It is the North East’s largest industrial sector generating over £10 billion (over 30%) of the region’s GDP. It employs over 35,000 people.
