Our PhD researchers

Our PhD students are leading the way with innovative new research within important fields.

Alethea Mountford and Dr Priscilla Carrillo-Barragan were two of our postgraduate students.

Alethea's research explores the amount and variation of plastics in the planet's oceans. She's using ocean modelling to detail her findings with accuracy.

Priscilla has been focusing her research on zooplankton, some of the smallest organisms in the sea. Her work examines which plastics the plankton have ingested.

Mustapha Manga was recently awarded the Doctoral Thesis Prize Award for his thesis - Mainstreaming Strategic Thinking in Policy Making for new Oil and Gas Frontiers in Nigeria through a transition to Strategic Environmental Assessment

For his PhD research, Douglas Boyes focused on light pollution. Climate change does continue to be a major concern for moth species in the UK.
