Staff Profile
I am a full-time Lecturer in Psychology for Medicine in the University of Sunderland School of Medicine. I am a visiting researcher at Newcastle University where I continue to work on the bulbul project within the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences.
I previously worked at Newcastle as a post-doctoral research fellow under PI Professor Ghada Khattab on the 'Language in the Early Years: Tackling the roots of academic and social inequalities in Arabic-speaking children' ESRC GCRF funded project 'bulbul'.
Prior to this, I completed my PhD at Newcastle University with Professor Cristina McKean, Dr Helen Stringer, Professor James Law, and Dr Lauren Ackerman evaluating the efficacy of Building Early Sentences Therapy (BEST), a novel, usage-based language intervention, through a quasi-experimental pilot study.
I also hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology from the University of Liverpool.
