Staff Profile
I was a teacher and leader for 23 years in three successive secondary schools in the North East. From 2014 I worked with Hartlepool Borough Council, developing a suite of leadership programmes and supporting curriculum leaders in primary and secondary settings. I conducted and published field research into successful practice in raising boys' achievement in the Borough, and led a work stream for the Hartlepool Education Commission chaired by Prof Steve Higgins. During this time I also worked as a Professional Tutor for the Teach First ITT programme through Northumbria University.
From 2015-17, as part of the Transforming Tees project, I worked with Dr Maria Cockerill and former Senior HMI Tom Grieveson to study successful practice with disadvantaged pupils and co-authored the report High Achievement for All, as well as coordinating a series of seminars and conferences for schools across the Tees Valley.
In 2017 I became Programme Director for NETSP, based in what was the North Leadership Centre and is now the Educational Leadership Centre. I lead all bespoke programme development, including developing three NPQ programmes for the School-Led Network, and collaborated on the early development of the UCL ECF programme which we now deliver. I oversee the delivery of the full suite of NPQs for NIoT and I facilitate across the suite of programmes offered by NETSP and the ELC.
At the ELC we assess all NIoT NPQs nationally and I am Assessment Lead.
I facilitate NPQs, ECF, bespoke programmes for schools, and facilitator training for all programmes delivered by NETSP.
I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Administration and a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching.
