Work with us

The partnerships which we have developed with Schools, MATs, Teaching School Hubs, and specialists in educational leadership are fundamental to our work. Please see below some of the ways in which you and your school can work with us.

Run a cluster in your school

If you're interested in our programmes and would like to run a group with only participants from your school/MAT, then we can work with you to deliver sessions in your school and train your staff to facilitate or co-facilitate the programme content. If you are able to host the sessions then we may be able to offer reduced rates for some programmes. Contact us at ECLOffice@newcastle.ac.uk for more information.

Become a facilitator

Facilitators work with participants on face-to-face days, helping them to explore content and develop their skills.

Facilitators lead the content delivery for all synchronous learning. The role involves reading and preparing prior to the session, and facilitating discussions and activities during the session itself. The programme content for all our programmes is written in advance of delivery, so facilitators are not expected to write the material or design the day's activities: we do, however, encourage them to adapt activities to suit their expertise and style. Facilitators need to have recognised experience in the area the programme focusses on, a commitment to their own and others' continuing professional development, and good interpersonal skills. They also need a clear understanding of the difference between training and facilitating.

If you are interested in facilitating on any of our NPQ programmes, please apply here.

If you are interested in facilitating on any of our other programmes then please contact us at ELCOffice@newcastle.ac.uk

Become an assessor

Newcastle University is the Assessment Partner for School-Led Network and the National Institute of Teaching. We have a team of assessors who mark submissions from across the country on all NPQ programmes.

All assessments are open book scenario-based tasks which are completed on a pro forma and marked anonymously online on our Moodle platform. The answers address a school-improvement issue and are required to reflect understanding of the relevant programme contents and NPQ framework.

Assessors are expected to have experience of assessment, and relevant experience of school practice for the programme they are marking: anyone marking NPQH will need to have experience of headship, and anyone marking NPQEL will need experience of leading several schools, or equivalent experience.

If you are interested in becoming an NPQ assessor then please apply here.
