About us 

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team are committed and passionate individuals who work together to drive and influence EDI across all parts of the University. To do this they make sure that EDI stays central to everyone’s work, which in turn supports the delivery of the University’s aims to developing a culture that is positive, inclusive and supportive, where everyone can reach their full potential.

The team provide strategic direction and assess how we embed the values of equality and diversity across the University. This means not only ensuring fairness in all our practices, policies and procedures but working collaboratively with staff networks, Academics and wider staff to make sure that their voices are heard.

Supporting the University, the make sure that they are aligning to legal frameworks, as well as analysing gaps to develop meaningful delivery plans, meet our Public Sector Duty and publish annual EDI report which detailing our gender pay gap and our progress within EDI.

Meet the team

Dean of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Professor Judith Rankin is the Dean of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. She provides focused strategic leadership on equality, diversity and inclusion and spearheads new initiatives.

The Dean chairs dedicated equality and diversity groups including:

  • University Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee
  • EDI Leads Forum
  • Gender Equality Group

Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team sit within People Services. They provide both strategic advice and practical support to everyone working or studying at the University.

The Central EDI Team play a lead role in:

  • embedding the values of EDI across the university

  • coordination of university-wide accreditation programmes

  • ensuring we achieve compliance with our statutory requirements
