Description
How do you keep rail central to the EU transport system? This requires paradigm shifts on fundamental rail sector characteristics.
The rail industry and organisations have to target a lean, integrated and flexible railway system. This will stimulate further innovation within the rail sector. It will ensure that rail services can address future user needs.
Development of the required technologies should align with the pace of innovation of other relevant sectors. In particular the competing transport modes.
These must include suitable governance structures and business models to ensure that the targeted impacts are achievable.
