Description
Objectives
- The project will develop novel ship hull-forms with advanced hydrodynamic characteristic. This is to reduce resistance and maximise efficiency of selected vessel types. It investigates the reduction in fuel usage from global shipping under realistic conditions. It does this through simulating ship operations.
- The project investigates the mechanisms of freak wave generation. It also studies the impact of extreme waves on energy infrastructure. The project develops methodology and techniques used for laboratory experiments.
The lab experiments are on:
- Freak wave generation
- Interaction of extreme waves with offshore structures
