Description

The project will take forward a prototype machine developed at Newcastle University. We will tune and adapt it for coating ceramic- and metallic-based prostheses/implants. These implants are produced by Zimmer-Biomet. We are working with the company to assess the viability and scale-up of the technology.

The project builds on a recent provisional filed patent application (1915463.2; Inventors: Drs Ferreira Duarte and Gentile). The patent relates to thin film fabrication method and apparatus via layer-by-layer assembly.
