Professor Ian Green
Professor of Practice
Worked within the Automotive Advanced Manufacturing sector for more than 39 years, in the 2022 Queens New Years Honours list was awarded an MBE for services to Apprenticeships and STEM education. In 2018 recognised as one of the Top 100 people in Manufacturing & highlighted in the top 20 as as an Exemplar for making an exceptional contribution to the industry by the Manufacturing magazine. Since 2022 started my own Training consultancy business and worked for BritishVolt setting up new Gigaplant up until its demise and Newcastle University as a Professor of Practice. For 31 years I worked within Nissan initially in production spending time in Purchasing on supplier development and since 1997 in training as part of HR. I was responsible for design, development and delivery of Process and Lean manufacturing training and then moved in Leadership and Management training. In 2006 I was tasked with setting up a new training section which would be responsible for Setup and Launch of new manufacturing plants in Russia and India, I designed the training , developed the team and successfully trained and launched Russia, this success was recognized when we won a Global Training Award in the Human Capital Awards. My team worked in India, South Africa and widely across plants in Europe. In 2013 I was asked to develop a new school engagement activity program, which has grown from a small pilot of 135 children up to 12000 children and 185 schools annually from Primary through to Secondary and Tertiary.
