Received the B.Sc. degree in automatic control from the College of Electronic Technology, Bani Walid, Libya in 2003, and the M.Sc. and PhD in electrical and electronic engineering from Newcastle University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, U.K. in 2010 and 2017 respectively. He is currently a lecturer at the Newcastle University Institute of Electrification and Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (IESAM) at Newcastle University (UK). He has over 10 years of research experience in testing and characterising Lithium-Ion Batteries in automotive applications, modeling energy storage systems, managing batteries, and controlling power electronics converters for energy systems.
Prior to joining the academic team, he worked on collaborative research projects with several industrial and academic partners focusing on high-energy-density batteries and the recycling and reuse of Lithium-Ion Batteries. Complementary to his research skills and academic qualifications, he has collected over 5 years of experience in the Electrical Power Industry as a senior commissioning engineer installing, programming, testing, and maintaining substation automation systems.
He is currently a member of a team leading the development and delivery of programmes, modules, and a range of high-quality teaching and learning resources for the Newcastle University Institute of Electrification and Sustainable Advanced Manufacturing (IESAM).
