Mohsen is a lecturer in Fluid-Structure interaction in Mechanical Engineering within the School of Engineering. Mohsen is a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) specialist with a strong background in developing numerical methods and fluid-structure interaction (FSI). Mohsen is a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, one of the senior developers of the open-source high-order spectral/hp element code Nektar++ and a member of UK Turbulence Consortium (UKTC). Prior to joining Newcastle University Mohssen worked as Postdoctoral Research at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Korea Advanced Institute of Technology (KAIST) (2016-2019) and as a Research Associate at the Department of Aeronautics, Imperial College London (2019-2022).
At Newcastle, Mohsen leads research on high-fidelity Fluid-Structure interaction (FSI) and high-order finite-element methods for turbulent flow simulations. Mohsen is keen on high-fidelity aeroelasticity and FSI of highly deformable bodies, vortical turbulent flow simulations and bio-inspired fluid dynamics and FSI problems. Mohsen's current research is focused on wind, tidal and renewable energy.
