Background
Dr. Raphael Kling PhD is a Research Associate in the Future Mobility Group Smart Systems Group at Newcastle University. His PhD research focussed on Simulation Tools for designing rail interchanges, exploring artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Other research interests include investigating the technical potential of blockchain technologies as an enabler for distributed finance, cyber protection and climate transition
Raphael completed his first degree in 2000 from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro Athens, (Brazil) in Social Studies. He obtained an MSc in Transport Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 2007. Whilst studying for his MSc, he was nominated twice for Best paper on Transport by the Brazillian Central Urban Transport Association (CBTU).
He has worked for several years as a consultant for disruptive technology development and participated in a number of national and international conferences and workshops. He was selected twice for ‘Young research competition on future of transport’ presented at TRAVision 14’ and TRAVision16`
Raphael also contributes to the Algorithmic Justice League’s and Conscious Advertising Network to ensure that industry ethics catches up with the technology of modern advertising.
