Waleed Elshanshoury is an Architectural and Urban Designer specializing in data-driven methodologies, with over nine years of expertise in Computational Design, Environmental Simulations, BIM, and Performance Optimization. His data-driven approach bridges Architectural Design and Design Technology, crafting computational frameworks focused on sustainable, user-centric solutions. Waleed has contributed to landmark projects across the Middle East, Africa, and outer space environments, delivering performance-driven architectural outcomes.

As a KTP Associate at Newcastle University, Waleed is leading a digital design project for industrialized construction through the development of a Knowledge-Based Engineering model. This model integrates knowledge graphs, BIM, Generative Design, and Machine Learning to revolutionize Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA), automating design processes and optimizing efficiency in time and cost.

As a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship, Waleed earned his MSc in Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, where his research focused on the seamless integration of computational design into the design process. Currently, he is a PhD scholar at the University of the West of England, Bristol, researching the application of Machine Learning for real-time urban energy modeling and generative urban design. Waleed’s entrepreneurial acumen includes collaborations with two successful tech start-ups, where he applied agile methodologies to advance design technology SaaS tools.
