Project title
Application of Wide Band Gap (WBG) Semiconductors to an in-wheel automotive drive
Supervisors
Project description
We use inverters in applications needing AC to DC conversion, or operating frequency adjustment. They are used in heat pumps and electric vehicles, for example. They can transfer power from various sources to a grid.
We are investigating the use of inverters in drive performance. We are comparing:
- a traditional Si inverter
- an SiC (silicon carbide) inverter
Interests
Wide bandgap (WBG), SiC, in-wheel drives.
