Project description
Due to rising greenhouse gases, there is a high demand to roll out EVs (Electric Vehicles). Currently, EVs can only be charged from static charging points.
We are investigating the dynamic road charging concept using wireless power transfer. In dynamic road charging, the car is charged when driving. We have developed a new wireless transfer system. The system is able to keep the power level constant along a primary coil embedded in the road. The charger increases the travel range by 125% compared to conventional single-phase pulsating dynamic wireless chargers. We have achieved this due to a new developed winding arrangement of the primary windings.
