Project description
MTMs (metamaterials) and MTSs (metasurfaces) have incredibly broad uses. There are exciting opportunities in:
- making them reconfigurable
- using sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies
We will study the physics laws governing metamaterials. This will provide a thorough understanding of the EM (electromagnetic) responses required. We will then design these materials for experimental demonstration. We will test for application into these designs to reduce the issues of technological waste. This will lead to the development of imaging applications using biodegradable materials. These applications will be ultra-compact, low-cost and super-resolution. We will develop them at different frequency ranges with emphasis to the terahertz frequency range. This is due to the opportunities offered to fields such as high-speed communications and biomedical imaging.
The materials will have the capability of being reconfigured.
Interests
Metamaterials, nanoscale optics, reduction of e-waste.
