Project description
We are carrying out research in manufacturing a new generation of optical fibre devices and laser fibre polishing. This includes, for example, the in-fibre nano vapour cell and high Q-factor micro-resonators. We are using a combination of lithographic and some nanoscale optical technology. This will allow us to directly fabricate such devices into the fibre.
This project provides a platform that increases the integration of a standard single mode fibre. The resulting components will have nearly zero insertion loss and minimum energy driven. This has potential applications in non-linear optics, quantum optics and optical fibre communications.
