Project description

Magnetostriction is also known as electrostriction. It causes materials to change shape or dimensions during magnetisation.

We are testing giant magnetostriction materials. We are using galfenol bulk samples and fabricated thin films to measure magnetic domain structure. We will then analyse the effect of the fabrication process on thin film structure and properties.

Interests

Improving the quality and quantity of MFM (magnetic force microscope) images.
