Project description
Anion-exchange-membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) are being developed intensively for automotive applications. This is because of their high-power density, fast start-up, and faster electrode reaction kinetics. AEMFCs are less prone to liquid water flooding and capable of using a less expensive catalyst.
We are developing a multi-phase two-dimensional (2D) model of an AEMFC. The model will increase our understanding of the transport phenomena in AEMFCs. It will allow the fundamental science to inform the design and development of better performing and robust cells.
