Project description
In rehabilitation, patients usually need to repeat movements. But they often fail to meet the repetitions needed for improvement. Game-play offers an alternative method. It can engage the patient. It can provide motivation to increase repetition of rehabilitation-relevant muscle activities.
Games provide challenging, intensive, task-specific conditions. These are necessary to promote behaviour adaptation. But ensuring motivation and engagement in game-play is not trivial.
This research draws from both game design and the neuroscience of engagement and motivation. We will design a game-based prosthetic training tool. The tool will increase adherence to therapeutically relevant exercises..
