Project title
Novel algorithms for OFDM with application to visible light communication (VLC)
Supervisors
Project description
The research will investigate and demonstrate a high data rate visual light communication (VLC) system. The system will use truncated orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (T-OFDM).
Our objectives
- We will carry out a comprehensive literature review on VLC and T-OFDM.
- We will develop an optimisation tool to analyse the design structure of T-OFDM in VLC. This will lead to a new VLC system.
- We will propose novel modulation and equalisation schemes to enhance the bandwidth of OLED- and LED-based VLC beyond 100 Mbps.
- We will carry out a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the proposed system. We will compare it with simulated data.
- Finally, we will implement the full system. We will compare the results with predicted and simulated data.
Qualifications
- MSc in Microelectronic and Communication Engineering from University of Northumbria
