Civil Engineering: MEng (Hons).
I knew the city well already so I was excited by the prospect of living here as a student. Newcastle has a vibrant, lively atmosphere.
About your course
Civil Engineering is a very diverse course which offers you the chance to develop skills in a wide range of areas. It’s also a great foundation for employment prospects, allowing you to go into any number of disciplines – it’s not all about building bridges!
Recommending Newcastle
Look at the course; try to choose one that you think you will enjoy. Wherever you go, you’ll get wrapped up in the life.
Living in Newcastle
A vibrant city with lots going on. Renowned for its nightlife, it certainly doesn’t fall short on the entertainment factor. But there’s plenty to keep you occupied if you fancy a quieter life.
Clubs and societies
Newcastle is fantastic for sports, offering a very wide range of clubs to join at different levels. I played netball before I came to Newcastle and joined the intramural team up here – it gave me the chance to have some fun but not distract from my work too much.
Accommodation
I’ve lived in a house with some friends in Jesmond – an area very popular with students.
